Interior Design Color Trends for 2025

Interior design trends are ever-evolving, reflecting changes in lifestyles, technological advancements, and cultural influences. In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift toward creating spaces that prioritize comfort, functionality, and sustainability. One key trend gaining traction is the incorporation of biophilic design, which emphasizes a connection to nature through the use of natural materials like wood and stone, earthy color palettes, and an abundance of greenery. Indoor plants have become a staple in modern interiors, not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their ability to improve air quality and create a calming atmosphere.

Another prominent trend is the embrace of bold, statement elements. Think striking wallpaper, statement lighting, and rich, vibrant hues like deep emerald greens or burnt oranges. Homeowners are increasingly favoring spaces with personality and character, blending vintage and contemporary pieces for a curated, eclectic look. Maximalism, in particular, has made a strong comeback, encouraging creative expression through layered textures, patterns, and unique accessories that tell a story.

Sustainability is also shaping the way we approach interior design. Upcycled furniture, eco-friendly materials, and energy-efficient lighting solutions are becoming more mainstream as people seek to reduce their environmental footprint. Minimalism remains popular, but it has evolved into a warmer, more inviting style often referred to as 'soft minimalism,' characterized by neutral tones, cozy textiles, and clean, uncluttered lines.

Technology, too, is playing a pivotal role in modern interior design. Smart home features, such as voice-activated lighting, automated blinds, and energy-efficient thermostats, are seamlessly being integrated into spaces to improve convenience and efficiency. Whether it's through the use of innovative materials or thoughtful design concepts, interior design trends today are all about creating homes that feel authentic, versatile, and reflective of individual lifestyles.

As we are now very well aware, color has more of an influence in our daily lives than just aesthetic value and personal taste.  Many studies have been conducted and show the influence color, combinations of color, tones and shades play on our moods and emotional state.  Not only are homeowners looking into this particular topic, but companies and corporations are seeing fit to make updates as well.  People are recognizing that color can do many things, from calming nerves to inspiring creative conversation and boosting productivity.

Toward the end of 2024 we saw the emergence of several new color trends and a demand for southwestern themed art.  Some have already fallen by the wayside, while other concepts are gathering steam and moving full steam ahead in 2025.  At the top of this list is the use of vibrant and bold shades of blue.  In particular, “Greek blue” and deep teals are very hot colors this year, or should we say “cool”?  The point of these dramatic colors is to lend to the home the feeling of an exotic vacation.  After all, our home should be our oasis!

These heavy pigmented blues are being used across the board in design.  From wall color and vintage style wallpaper to fabrics and accent pieces, these blues are the must have pop color of the season.  With so many options, its easy to incorporate a standout blue into your design palette whether you want to make a bold change or something a little less dramatic.  For someone ready to make a big statement, a deep blue accent wall is a refreshing idea.  This looks incredible when paired against white in some way along with rich wood accents.

For those who simply what a quick and easy color pick-me-up, accent pieces such as end tables, wall decor, and lamps in shades of blue are definitely hot items on the market.  We are seeing the deep blues emerge more and more in home furnishings, so they should become easier to find as the year progresses.

Along with the deep blue trend, 2025 is seeing a palette of warmer nature-inspired hues hit the market.  The new neutrals include almond tones and shades of grey.  Although white is still trending as juxtaposed with the season’s shades of blue, there is definitely a shift away from the harshness of black and white.  The natural/bohemian feel that began last year is still going strong.  The shift is that we are seeing the shades toned down a bit and a little less loud.

The bright tangerine, vibrant pink, and sunshine yellow of 2025 have become softer, milder versions of themselves.  The color concepts are still bold enough make a statement, but easier to work with as a transition from fallback neutrals.  Last year’s color choices were aimed at sparking conversation, livening the atmosphere and waking up a tired living space.  2025 is about soothing the senses, creating a therapeutic space within the home, and mimicking the dream-like feeling of being somewhere beautiful in nature.

Do some research on how these color combinations look best before you get started.  With such an array of colors, it’s easy to get a little confused and perhaps go overboard.  Done the right way, your home or office will be transformed into a retreat so lovely, you will have a hard time stepping out the door.
